It's Not Perfect but It's the Picture of My Life

I hate being in pictures which is probably why I am always the photographer. However, I do worry that my kids will never have pictures that I am in, so I try to get in a few from time to time.

Well, a few weeks ago, I saw a few pictures where the mom is kissing the baby. They are cute pictures and as a bonus, it seems to make the mom's face look thin.

So I decide to try to take a picture like this...

After a few tries, my pictures turned out like this...

A tried a few more times with no avail, but then I realized...this is my life. This a "true" selfie.  I am kissing my daughter because I love her but looking in another direction because something else was probably ongoing. My daughter is crying because she is a diva who cries when she does not get what she wants. (Pray for me with this one!)  My son is photobombing because he is crazy and has to make sure that he gets attantion also.  For right now, my life is not a pretty picture, it is a crazy one, but I will take it!

First Birthday Cake Smash Photoshoot

My baby girl turns one tomorrow, so I did a “Cake Smash” shoot with her at mom mom’s last weekend.  I am not a photographer, but I love to pretend like I am one. I have a decent camera and Photoshop which I know just enough about to make me dangerous.

I do not own a fancy backdrop, so I just used to party decorations on a while wall and a sheet on the floor.  My sister has a great eye so she helped me with it.   I am not sure if it is because I am biased about how cute Ella is, but I think the pictures turned out quite cute!

Happy Birthday, sweet girl!

They Grow So Fast!

So my kids are getting big...fast!

Ella ate pancakes this week, then chicken, then one night she refused to eat baby food for dinner. But she's supposed to be my baby, my little tiny baby. Wah!

And on top of the above, I took Jacob ice skating last weekend. He asked if he could sit in the penalty box for a picture. When I took the picture, he made this face.  This is NOT the silly face of my baby. This is a big boy face. Again I say, Wah!

Don't get me wrong, I love that my kids are healthy and growing, it's just happening so quickly. Because the third time is a charm, again I say, Wah!

I am going on a Picnik

So I kind of like to pretend that I am a photographer.  I got a fun new camera last year and have a tough time putting it down sometimes. What I was missing was an easy way to edit my pictures.  I know that Photoshop is fun, but I was not willing to part with the money it costs right now so I was looking for something VERY easy and inexpensive until I have the time to really learn Photoshop well enough to make the money worth it.
My solution? PICNIK!
I chose to pay the $20ish that it cost to get the better version and I love it. Here are a few before and after shots. It is so fun and so easy.  If you are someone who really knows nothing about photography, but likes to think you do and likes to play with pictures, Picnik is for you.  Even the free version is fun. Try it!

There are fun stickers, costumes and fonts, also. I just am more of an "effects" person.

Labor Day Weekend in Pictures

We had a fun-filled Labor Day Weekend. I thought it would be fun to share it in pictures.

On Friday night we went to the Blake Shelton concert at Fort Meade. It was an awesome show and we were very close. We could even touch the stage!
On Saturday we went to the Maryland State Fair with my mom and dad. We rode rides, playued games, watched pig races, rode "tractors", saw animals at teh petting zoo and got to see baby chicks hatch. What a day!
(Sorry the pics aren't great, but I only had my camera. )

On Sunday we baked cupcakes (see my earlier post for the flavors and recipes) for Miss Becky. In his typical style, Jakey wore his cowboy hat and was covered in batter!

On Monday we went to the Sacred Heart Labor Day Picnic. I grew up spending my Labor Days at the picnic and it had been years since I went. It was nice to see Jakey have fun at a place that carries so many fond memories for me.
