Countdown To Kindergarten

In four days, my little buddy will be a Kindergartner.  As I have said many times over the last year, this seems like the biggest step he has ever made and ever will until it is time to go to college.   I know that kindergarten does mean that my baby is all grown up, but I feel like it is the first step on a new journey that leads to it.
No longer will my little snuggle-bug get to miss school because I let him stay up to watch the end of the Maryland-Duke game.   No longer will our Saturdays be spent being lazy if we want because mommy is finally home from work. No longer will we be able to take vacations during the school year while the roads are empty. No, the responsibility of school, CCD, activities and sports will help shape our time now.

How can this little face be ready for kindergarten?

Along with the responsibility, though, will come such an amazing world that my little guy can’t even imagine.  Now he will gain experiences like favorite teachers, best friends, pick-up sports at recess, learning to read his own bedtime books, trading snacks at lunch, field trips, slumber parties and so many things I can’t imagine either.
I cannot wait for my Jakey to experience the fun of the next 13 years of grade-school and I will do my best to be present everyday and love him through it. But for now, for the next three days, I will just enjoy my preschooler and get every last minute in.
